Vacation Rental DescriptionOur cabin is on Dark Bay (it's not really dark), which is on the eastern shore of Lake George. We are directly opposite Hague and just north of Gull Bay.
This is a quiet family oriented part of Lake George. The cabin has a nice sense of privacy, there are no shared facilities.
Our Bay is small, has cabins on one side and only a boathouse and new dock on the other. There's a 5 mph buoy in the bay, so the limited boat traffic moves slowly. It's great for swimming and snorkeling. If you have toddlers, there is a sand beach with lifeguards at Gull Bay, just a couple of minutes south of us by car (our younger son normally rides his bike over). The beach is for town residents and doesn't get much use. The boat launch is also located there. You're welcome to use both town facilities.
The row boat that comes with the camp allows for some exploring of the lake (great morning exercise!) and the "U"-shaped crib dock can accommodate most boats (rentals are available directly across the lake at Dockside Landing Marina & in Ticonderga). Although we're not a fishing family, our neighbor is always proving how great the fishing can be.
Vacation Rental AmenitiesComfortable and relaxing, the cabin has a queen sized bed and a bunk bed. We supply linens for the beds and bath, but you are expected to bring your own beach towels. There is also a futon in the living room and also one on the screened porch. The porch overlooks the lake and most folks spend much of their time there when not on the dock. The lakeside hammock is great for napping.
The gas grill is the favorite for summer cooking. The kitchen is complete with coffee and espresso makers. There's a TV with a VCR and FM radio. A selection of classic games (not electronic), videos, toys, books can keep you busy in the evenings.
Activities and AttractionsMost folks come to the cabin to enjoy the Lake. The major "tourist" attractions are at the southern end of the Lake in Lake George Village. The 40 minute drive will get you to the outlet malls, Great Escape (theme park), Lake Cruises, wax museum, miniature golf, etc.
Ticonderoga (15 minutes north) has restaurants and some shopping. Fort Ticonderoga, the site of the first "battle" of the Revolutionary war, is open for tours.
Golf, tennis and horseback riding can be found in the general area.
All the attractions of Vermont are a short drive away.
